As per the New Pattern, there will be (National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test) NEET and AIIMS examinations for admission in MBBS and BDS courses. Almost all the states have agreed to have entrance to the medical colleges by performance in the NEET but the entrance to all AIIMS will be as per a separate examination. There is no weightage to the marks in the board exams.
NEET Examination will create an umbrella or single entrance test for all medical aspirants in India. Till now admission to these seats were done through national level and state level entrance exams. There were 25 such different Medical Entrance Examinations in India for admission into various Govt. and Pvt. Medical colleges.
Students studying in Class XII in year 2013 or students who passed Class XII in 2012 and have taken Physics, Chemistry and Biology in their subjects can apply for NEET.
NEET application can be filled online through the website http://cbseneet.nic.in/ and the examination fee can be either paid online through Credit / Debit cards or via challan.
The detailed syllabus of the NEET examination is available in the Information Bulletin on the website http://cbseneet.nic.in/ .NCERT is expected to remain core of the syllabus.
The proposed pattern of the examination is as below:
Total number of questions: 180 Qs
- Physics: 45 Qs
- Chemistry: 45 Qs
- Botany: 45 Qs
- Zoology: 45 Qs
NEET – 2013 examination will be held on Sunday, 5 May, 2013. It will be of 3hrs duration.
